Which Of The Following Is Not An Autoimmune Disease?
Autoimmune diseases are a group of medical conditions in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy cells tissues in its own body. These diseases can occur at any age affect both genders. There are around 80 types of autoimmune diseases each has its own set of symptoms triggers.
However not all medical conditions that affect the immune system are autoimmune diseases. In this article we will identify which of the following conditions is not an autoimmune disease.
Asthma
Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that affects the airways in the lungs. It causes difficulty breathing wheezing coughing chest tightness due to inflammation narrowing of the airways. Although asthma involves an immune response it is not an autoimmune disease.
Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. It damages the protective covering of nerve cells which disrupts communication between the brain the rest of the body. Symptoms of MS vary can include fatigue muscle weakness vision problems difficulty with coordination balance.
Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system attacks destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels in the body without it high levels of sugar can build up in the blood cause damage to organs tissues. Symptoms of type 1 diabetes include increased thirst urination weight loss blurred vision fatigue.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that affects the joints causing swelling pain stiffness decreased range of motion. It occurs when the immune system attacks the lining of the joints which leads to joint damage possible deformity. Symptoms of RA can also affect other parts of the body such as the skin eyes lungs blood vessels.
Cancer
Cancer is not an autoimmune disease. It is a group of diseases that occur when abnormal cells grow divide uncontrollably forming a mass (tumor). Cancer can occur in any part of the body can spread to other organs tissues. Treatment for cancer may involve surgery chemotherapy radiation or a combination of these options.
In conclusion of all the conditions listed above cancer is not an autoimmune disease. Although all of these conditions involve the immune system only the autoimmune diseases involve the immune system attacking the body’s own tissues organs.
